Easy. How do we know its a prophecy? Because we're the faithful slave! How do we know we're the faithful slave? Because it was prophesied!
Circular reasoning at its very best. Beyond that, I've never seen a good explanation.
i don't know of any do you.
i would think it a major leap in logic to not concider this first before expounding on it prophetically, why go thru the bother if we are missing this important link..

so after the memorial hell http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/249700/1/memorial-hell my wife totally missed the special talk and i only just realized from jwn that she has.
in fact last sunday i took her out to a park and we had nice time in the fresh air enjoying nature.
also she has taken up improving her congnitive skills on luminosity and today said she might actaully go and study some algebra on khan academy which i had suggested instead of spending money on luminosity.
Hell yeah it's a good sign! A Dub rarely hears about what critical thinking is, and would rarely think it is useful to them. Just lay off of doctrinal issues and science altogether for a while.
If she says she feels her mind is turning to mush, that's because it is. I remember exactly the feeling you described earlier. Describing logical fallacies is good, a list is better. There are a few good YouTube videos that actually show them being used. I found that to be the best personally.
It might just be wishful thinking, but if she once again feels intellectually empowered she might even allow herself to see the bullshit in the pages of the WT. if you jump on it too hard, she might see your motives and back off the whole thing. This could be a great opportunity!
when we were jw's pride was usually cast in a bad light, linked with being "haughty" and coming before a "fall" etc.. but taking pride in certain things is actually a very good thing, i am proud of my children, they have grown in to fine adults who everybody talks well of, they had the sense never to be baptised jw's, i am proud of that too.. i am proud of my achieving a full education since leaving, i haven't done a degree course due to lack of funds etc, but i am now very well read.. i am proud that i am now a better human, kinder, more empathetic, less judgemental, contributing to the community, voting, donating blood etc etc.
i am proud to be associated with jwn and with aawa, i am proud to know you all !.
what are you proud of ?
I'm proud to have control of my mind, and my life. I'm proud of my beautiful wife and the life we have together. We have a nice home, we're both gainfully employed in careers we enjoy. Although we're young, our choices are already starting to benefit us greatly. We have our health and a happy marriage. Of these things I am most proud.
She's starting to learn to think for herself and I'm very proud of that. I look forward to taking even more pride in her when she eventually walks away from this cult.
I am also proud to be a part of this big online community which helps thousands of awakening witnesses make their ways out of this religion.
here is an interesting speech by daniel dennett.
i thought it was a balanced and honest talk,.
bringing out both sides of this purposed plausible suggestion.
A happy, full life. A life where we are in full control of our mental faculties, free of myths and dogmas. Free of fear of the supernatural.
As a society, I hope we continue to replace it with advances in science and humanity.
exxon, shell, and canadian pacific railway all had oil spills reported this week.
exxon and shell's oil spills were from ruptured pipelines and canadian pacific had a railcar accident.. the exxon spill flooded streets and the yards of homes outside of little rock arkansas and the shell spill occured outside houston texas near the vince bayou.
residents of the little rock community never knew that high pressure pipelines ran under their homes which is a disturbing fact being discovered more and more.
Great point Marvin. To be honest, we need more pipelines, if anything. And with US and Canada stepping up oil production, we can expect to see just that.
True, it would be better to run underground pipelines away from residential areas. Many lines are laid long before homes are built. Easements for pipelines that stay a distance from residential areas puts them out of sight, but they're still there.
Some like to rant, but the fact is this: we need oil, oil travels through pipelines. Deal with it. If you can find a better way, by all means! Please step forward.
there are many cultural differences between the general population of the us and europe, what about jws?
i have heard about such things as beards being allowed, movies that a jw cant watch in the us or would be frowned upon watching being ok, same with tv shows, and even the way they dress in public.
seems more laid back over there if this is true.. any truth to this?
Differences between JWs in the US and Europe?
A good 100lbs on average I'd say.
saw this on the news.
do you think we'd ever see the same from the gb?.
in any case, i'm not betting any money on it!.
The pope calls for action because it is important for the credibility of the church.
Meanwhile, the WT fights in appeal after appeal because they don't want a hit to their credibility.
Which strikes you as worse? They both claim to abhor child abuse.
oh how i wish i could just write out something that would cause you all to know and understand that what i say is true.
or i wish i could tell yall that i am going to do something like cause an earthquake (with jehovahs spirit backing me) at a certain place and time, then after i posted such info then it occurred just as i said...then maybe you would listen and believe what i say.. .
and even more so, your lack of knowledge and belief in jehovah and in his word the bible.
New22day
Youre absolutely right. Either way a Dub brain won't compute that these aren't the last days. They're waiting for bad times but... Good times too? I don't really feel like pulling out my bibble and looking it up right now but doesn't one have to happen before the other?
One day in a phone conversation with my sister she mentioned how we are "sooo close to the end!" So I said, "you really think so? It really seems things are substantially better than they've ever been! We have new marvels in medicine, insight into science, better living conditions, relatively low crime, relatively low international conflicts..." She paused, then said... "Yeah! Maybe that means its even closer!"
Almost planted a seed! But.. In one ear, out the other. It might all fall on deaf ears, but inducing more cog dis in people is so fun!
do any of you see how the "truth" will fade out in future generations of your family?.
i have a few relatives either dfd or faded and we were talking about this.
we were talking how we would not raise our kids in the madness.
My sister and her dumbass husband will never wake up, but they won't have kids either. They're gonna pioneer till Armageddon! Mom is a DFed believer.. Long story. Dad.. I doubt he'll wake up. That leaves only in laws.
The only future generations in my family will come from my wife and I. I am determined to live our lives and raise our future kids free of the org. I've told my JW wife before that I don't want there to be any chance of religion tearing our family apart, or worse.. Killing one of our kids.
Next generation of the Obvious family will NOT be JWs.

we warmly invite you to attend this year's three-day convention presented by jehovah's witnesses/ 'god's word is truth'.
Our convention is 4 hours away from here... The "invitation work" is even more pointless. Yet every year we have the same people soaking up their easy 30 hours thinking they aren't actually wasting their spare time. I smile and wave at the friends as I drive to the golf course for my Saturday morning tee time.
What a goddamn waste of paper, fuel, and most of all time.
